Music Camp

There will be a music fundamentals/sight-reading camp held Monday, June 13th through Friday, June 17th, at the Cleveland United Methodist Church on Kytle St. The camp will meet from 9:30- 11:30 am each day, with registration/check-in on Monday from 9- 9:30 am. Classes will be divided into three age groups: upcoming 1st grade through 4th, upcoming 5th grade through 8th, and upcoming 9th grade through 12th. No musical background is needed. Cost will be $25 for the first child in each family and $15 for each additional child. Refreshments will be served during a short mid-morning break.

 

Classes will cover sight-reading skills using solfege [do,re,mi], rhythm reading, and basic music elements. There will be a closing “show and tell” for parents and friends on Friday night at 7 pm in the church sanctuary.

 

Instructors for the class will be Tommy Jameson, retired church musician, voice teacher, and teacher of students pre-school through college; Eva Jameson, retired public school teacher of pre-K through 12; and Emily Allison, current choral teacher at East Hall Middle School and director of Foothills Junior Choir, and co-director of Mountain Voices in Clarkesville. The
Jamesons currently serve on staff with Piedmont College as Fine Arts Facilitators.
